Katu

My name is Katu Kekana, I am 46 years old, I am originally from Prague, Czech Republic, currently living with my husband and family in Mpumalanga, South Africa. I am a mother of three children – Christopher (21 years old), Julia (17years old) and Machi Naledi (7 years old).

I am a yoga teacher, Kirtan singer, astrology and numerology consultant, herbalist, Pranayama Breathwork facilitator, healing retreat organiser and facilitator, permaculture enthusiast and natural home interior designer.

I am a co-founder of Sahhulube Eco Village and learning centre in Mpumalanga which focuses on community development and empowerment through permaculture courses, youth camps, Eco-village design education (EDE), natural building courses, plant medicine courses, life skills education, healing ceremonies and community seasonal celebrations.

In 2001 I moved to Santa Barbara, California where I studied for several years different yoga styles – Hatha, Kundalini, Yin Yoga, Tao, Iyangar, Vinyasa with well know teachers as Scott Blossom, Chandra Easton, Kira Ryder, Gurmukh, Anne van
de Water among others. In 2003 I taught kundalini yoga and mommy and baby yoga in Irvine, California. In 2008 I created devotional music group called Ojai Kirtan Band. We performed at private and public events and at yoga centres in Southern California.

My passion for numerology developed in an early age at home as my grandmother had a vast knowledge of the art and did readings for people. I studied both numerology and astrology on my own as a hobby for many years. Later between 2010 and 2014 I studied astrology extensively and joined webinars, workshops, seminars and courses with various teachers as Tara
Faulkner, Tom Lesher , Steven Forrest, Antonin Baudys and Christine Page.

Due to suffering with chronic Lyme’s disease since 2011 I have been on the mission for years to find a cure and heal from disease which western medicine have no treatment for. I learnt about nutrition and herbal therapies with Steven Bhuner and Gabriel Cousins. In 2013 and 2014 I went to Temple of the Way of Light – healing
centre in Amazonian Jungle of Peru which provides wholistic approach to healing,
combining both traditional shamanic plant medicine methods together with western
integrative healing therapies helping many international visitors each year. Not only
that my health improved dramatically, but the experience also left me with strong desire to help others to heal and experience better life.

Since 2015 I have been facilitating plant healing ceremonies and retreats both in California and South Africa, leading pranayama breathwork therapies and offering astrology/numerology
consultations to both individuals and families, helping them to navigate through challenges in life, understand their life’s purpose and ultimately reach their full potential. I also enjoy making delicious meals for people, making crafts and designing natural homes, leading Kirtan, hiking, exploring in nature and practicing meditation.
